Fall Leaf Rubbing Wreath

What You Need:

  • White Paper
  • Crayons
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper Plate 
  • Leaves 

What You Do: 

  1. Go outside with your child, either in your yard or a park, and collect some leaves (either fresh or fallen)! Make sure to collect all different sizes and shapes of leaves. 
  2. Place the leaf with the bottom (raised) side up.
  3. Place a sheet of white paper over the leaf.
  4. Rub the side of a crayon on the area over the leaf until you’ve rubbed over the entire leaf. Cut out the new leaf. You can ask your child questions such as “What do you think will happen when you rub the crayon over the paper?” “ What does this picture remind you of?” 
  5. Cut out the center of the paper plate.
  6. Continue making leaf rubbings until you have enough to cover the entire paper plate ring. You can ask your child “Which leaf rubbing is your favorite?”
  7. Arrange the leaf rubbings on the plate ring so none of the paper plate sticks out. 
  8. Glue the leaf rubbings in place.
  9. Enjoy your new decoration! 

Hang your new wreath somewhere where you and your child will be able to see it to remember the fun that you had together! Save the leaves to make more wreaths in the future, or use them to create more decorative rubbings for around the rest of your living space! You can also use the leaves to start a family tree!
