Mother's Day Coupons

What You Need:

  • Three pieces of card stock, either plain or colored
  • My Book of Mother's Day Coupons template (or feel free to create your own!)
  • Markers
  • Hole punch
  • ¼-inch wide ribbon or string

What You Do:

  1. First, print out your coupon templates (or create your own!). If using our template, cut out each coupon. You should end up with eight coupons and a cover page for your booklet!
  2. Now get creative! What can children do for mom that would really make her day—not just on the holiday, but other times, too? Have your child brainstorm some ideas of ways they can show their love and appreciation for their mother figure. Some ideas include chores around the home, but don’t forget that hugs can go on a coupon, too! Other ideas might include a family movie night, quality time together, or a special excursion with friends.
  3. Have you child fill out each coupon (lending assistance as needed). On the back of each coupon, invite children to write at least one sentence about why they really want to do this for mom. For example, if the coupon is for a trip to the library, have children write why this would be a meaningful activity for their mom. (This is a perfect time to thank mom with specific details for bestowing a love of books on her kids!)
  4. When your child has completed all eight of the coupons, it's time to put the booklet together! Stack the coupons on top of one another, placing the cover on top. Use a hole punch to create the holes (younger kids will likely need an adult's help with this part). Then tie pieces of ribbon through each set of holes to make two bows. 
  5. Presto! There’s nothing like a homemade gift of love to make Mother's Day memorable—and to nurture your child’s learning while you’re at it!
