Risky Math

What You Need:

  • Deck of cards
  • Scratch paper, one sheet per player
  • Pencils, one per player

What You Do:

  1. Have one player shuffle the deck and arrange 10 cards face down in a circle in the center of the table.
  2. Announce the point system to the players.
    • All numerical cards hold their point value. 
    • Jacks = 11 points
    • Queens = 12 points 
    • Kings = 13 points
    • Aces = 1 point
  3. Ask one player at a time to select either one or two cards from the center circle of cards.
    • One card: Add the total to your score.
    • Two cards: Use subtraction to find the difference between the cards. Add this number to your total score.
    • If a seven or a Jack is included in your draw of one or two cards:
      • Seven: Subtract 7 from your total score. 
      • Jack: Subtract 11 from your total score.
      • Add the remaining number (if two were drawn) to your total score.
  4. The player who chooses the last card must add 25 points to their total score.
  5. Deal another 10 cards and keep the game going for another 10 rounds.
  6. Whoever has the lowest score wins!

Variation: Multiply the numbers and the player with the highest score is the winner.
