The Legislative Branch: Two Chambers of Congress

The legislative branch of the federal government includes the United States Congress, which is made up of the Senate and the House of Representatives. In this two-page history and civics worksheet for middle grades, students investigate the purpose and structure of the legislative branch and explore some of the key differences between the two chambers of Congress. Students will use the information to complete sentences describing either the House of Representatives or the Senate, and then they'll go on to research and record their current representatives in each chamber. As a bonus question, students can consider which chamber of the legislative branch they would most like to be a part of one day.
